It's been a long day at work and you're tired and hungry. There's a take-away just down the road but you'd really rather have something homemade for dinner - what can you cook that will taste good, be good for you and be on the table in half an hour? If you can't answer this question (and you won't be alone) you might need professional help. After years of fielding basic cooking questions from clients, caterer Gaynor Taylor has opened a cooking school with an emphasis on solving simple cooking dilemmas. Her Just Cook It classes focus on getting a great meal to the table in less than 30 minutes. In the class in which Bites took part, enthusiastic students watched Taylor whip up meals such as Middle Eastern pizza to stracciatella, risotto with roast duck and an authentically retro stroganoff. Held at Taylor's catering company, in Kew, the classes are on weekday evenings and weekends. -- JUSTINE COSTIGAN
